Welcome back to another round of Tuesday Tales. This week the word prompt is laughter. Again I’m giving you a scene from my romantic fantasy WIP, Return of Queen Sala. As always please excuse any mistakes or errors you find.
“I can only go partway. In our village it is not allowed for men and women to bath together, even if they are joined.”
“That would make sense as it would be inappropriate for different couples to be swimming at the same time.”
“True. Please follow me,” he announced with a wave of his hand.
Side by side, in a comfortable silence, they strolled down a path lined by a mixture of sidous and fers. After several minutes ahead she noticed a fork in the trail. She suspected this, from what Aravan had told her, would be the extent of his escorting her.
“This is as far as I am allowed to go. Continue on the right footpath and you will come to the women’s area. There are several benches to sit on while you change.”
“My, you think of everything, do you not,” she said, giving him a warm smile before setting out.
Sala knew she was getting close to the stream when she heard the pleasant sound of laughter. Rounding a bend in the trail she saw a wide pool of clear light green water. In the middle of the stream she saw Nab, who waved to her.
“My Queen, I am happy to see you have come to bath,” she called out.
“Thank you, after everything today it will be nice to relax in the water,” Sala answered.
What made the setting so pleasant, besides the trees and several different kinds of bushes, the area was covered in very short, soft rass.
After toeing her boots off she slipped from her leather pants and shirt. She’d shed her vest earlier at Aravan’s abode between meetings with Ariella’s learners and the village elders.
Not feeling self-conscious about being naked in front of another she strolled to the water’s edge. Sticking her toe in she was pleased to note the stream was warm.
“Queen Sala, the pool is deep enough right there so if you choose you may dive in,” one of the other women said.
