This week we’re writing to the above picture-enjoy.
With the first round of rescues completed everyone waited for word on when and where the next would take place. Frustrated at inaction, something none of them were used to, he knew the perfect time had come. It wouldn’t solve all the problems but would give everyone something to look forward to.
Ronny watched and waited until he saw Jessica take the path leading to the reproduction of the stone bridge from Central Park. He wasn’t surprised since it was her preferred place to read, especially books by one of her favorite authors, Jean Joachim.
He smiled to himself, then turned to Paschal, nodded and went to the solid fronted wine cooler. From it he retrieved a bouquet of two dozen roses; six each in red, white, yellow and pink.
Against his better judgment but knew if he didn’t everyone would start questioning him.
“Yes, it’s exactly what you think it. Now, I’m going to ask her and if any of you leave this house until we come back I’ll skin you alive.” He cocked his head to Toby, “Especially you, you big ape.”
“Don’t worry Ronny, I’ll keep him here,” Martina said, glaring at her husband.
“Fine. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got a mission which needs completing.”
Taking in a deep breath, Ronny marched from the kitchen and out into the bright, warm afternoon sunlight. Suddenly and without warning, he felt like he was going to his own execution which caused his heart to pound in his chest.
As he approached the bridge he scrapped the soles of his shoes in the gravel for his safety.
“Hey babe. Thought you’d like a few flowers to brighten up the bridge?”
“Maybe so they can go with this,” Ronny said, getting onto one knee with the wrapped box held in his hands.
